At age twenty, I took a leap and raised my first batch of pasture-raised chickens. I’d always known that factory-farmed chicken wasn’t doing anyone’s health any favors. It was nutrient-poor, and raised in an unethical manner.

But for years, I didn’t feel educated enough to make a change—until I finally realized: if I don't take charge of where my food comes from, someone else will. And that someone isn't thinking about my health—or yours.
